I've never thought I'd live long enough to see a myth buried. I don't know if you remember, but Myst enjoyed a tremendous success, many believing that CD-ROM units became a standard, after the game was launched. Riven followed and even if its creators thought this was their masterpiece, there were fewer supporters already. realMyst and Myst 3 came too late, while Uru was a failure for Cyan Worlds, its online component being shut down, as the online adventure concept didn't really make the necessary bucks to ensure its development. Another rush decision was choosing Ubisoft as a development partner and publisher for Cyan's titles. I said rush and not necessarily wrong, because the trend or let's say disease to develop games suited for everybody corrupted Ubisoft too, and thus, affected the Myst universe. Really, did you expect Atrus to be so powerful for ever? This is the past. It's been a fruitful one and unfortunately, today it's dead. Let's see why!
In this last episode of the Myst saga entitled End of Ages, your purpose is to plant the seed for the D'ni civilization. Of course, this is a figure of speech, but you'll see what I mean. Yeesha, Atrus' daughter, tried it already and failed, so it's your turn now. As you probably know from the previous titles, your character is the same silent friend of Atrus, so we don't find out who you are or where you come from, but we certainly know where you'll go if you make the right decision. It's all about a tablet and a powerful one, but the power is not yours to keep, not for Yeesha, not for Atrus and certainly not for Esher. This new character is the one who will give you the necessary hints throughout the game. He will try to gain your trust, but nothing is what it seems to be. Not even Yeesha.
