When I was a little boy, well, maybe not that little but it's been so long that I'm feeling somehow strange talking about it, I was fascinated by two characters: Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin. The image of the second one is found nowadays mostly in the Japanese anime series, but Holmes from Baker Street enjoyed greater appreciation from the Western movie industry. Right now, it's time for the game producers to consider this great character and develop games inspired from his stories. Digital Jesters made such a step and launched "The Case of the Silver Earring".

The protagonists are, of course, the genius named Sherlock Holmes and its respectable, almost always wrong, partner, Dr. Watson. I still remember Holmes saying in one of the stories I've read that Watson's contributions are crucial to his deductions, as he is always wrong and helps Holmes find the right path easier. If you keep playing you will discover that Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard is another important figure in the game and the dialogues between him and Holmes are always funny. The action is set in motion by a letter and two invitations send to Holmes from a lord asking him to attend a ceremony where a famous singer would perform. The reason for Holmes attendance is the request made by the lord to observe carefully this woman, as she was famous more for her attitude, rather than her singing. Accepting the invitations, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson agree to go to Sherrington Hall (the name of the place where the ceremony was held), but when they get there, something really bad happens. The ceremony was organized by Sir Bromsby, a very wealthy and influent person in London because of the business he managed, in honor of his daughter. When he began his speech in front of all the guests, a gun shot is heard and he, obviously, dies. The problem is that when the gun shot was heard, his daughter, Lavinia, opened one of the doors leading inside the hall, wishing to enter and hear her father speak in front of the audience. As the gun shot came from her location, many start thinking that she must be the killer.
