It’s very hard to make successful or original game these days. Whether it’s a 3D Action, Real Time Strategy or Role Playing Game, it has become increasingly hard to impress the gamers around the world without bringing something completely new to the table. This is why it’s mandatory to have a selling point for a game, trying to get as much attention with it as possible. Usually, the graphics hold the top spot in the selling point list, and for good reason, because it has pixelshaders, bump mapping, dynamic lighting and all those cool effects that will make your jaw hit the floor if they’re done right. But there are exceptions however, games that have a very good core gameplay, but aren’t backed up by the storyline or the technical aspects.

This is the case of kill.switch, a 3rd person action game, created by Namco for the console market that has now been ported on the PC by the Bitmap Brothers. And although is had great potential, it ends up being “just another console port”. In fact, I don’t know how Namco is planning to sell a game that can be finished in a couple of hours on the hardest difficulty level, has no multiplayer and is graphically outdated. But maybe they know something we don’t.
