A year ago, october, a friday, while visiting my uncle I found out he was thinking about visiting the next day my grandparent in the countryside. As I hadn't seen them for a long time I asked him to take me also but as he had to carry a lot of things in his car he said he would take the next time. I didn't insist so things went on as planned. Well, not only as planned because Sunday evening my grandfather died suddenly of a heart attack. Besides the fact that writing these words makes me cry, what hurts most is that i didn't insist that Friday. Maybe he would have finally agreed and took me with him. Why didn't God allowed me one more day with my grandfather I'll never know. Maybe I'll ask Him when I get there because I'm really curious. What I wish most, now, is to send myself a message, something, anything so that I would have gone with my uncle the next day. This is the first thing that crossed my mind when I began playing Shadow of Destiny. I think everybody would change something in his or her past if they would really have the opportunity to do it. If you can't modify your destiny, you could at least try to ease your life. How limited we are!
Shadow of Destiny is no ordinary adventure. You need a lot of imagination to progress and the logic is a little bit weird because of all these temporal jumps. Briefly, your name is Eike Kusch and at the beginning of the game you are killed for no apparent reason while taking a walk down the street. Once the painful and fatal moment passes you wake in a very strange univers, alone at first but together with a kind voice afterwards. Who talks to you and why is not clear fron the strat but you'll find out during the game. The fact is that you're given a second chance and you have to do whatever you can to prevent the murder. Or murders? The game features 10 chapters and during 8 of them you're life is in danger, the criminal using each time another you to kill you. The person behind the voice gives you a device right from the start that allows you to travel through time but only to the time where your actions might have some importance. The Digipad (that's the name of the device) works along with some energy units that you have to find across the level and that allow your travel. You can also save the game during the chapter if you want to but I didn't find that necessary.
