To be honest, I never knew what Juarez was, until I searched with Google. I've been hearing the name, but I forgot what it means. I found out that Juarez is a location in Mexico. Back in the old days it was called Paso del Norte or the Northern Pass, because that’s where a river, Rio Grande, is passing through the mountains. This region’s history is long and dramatic, but I’ll make it short and say that Call of Juarez throws you in one of the toughest periods of time ever, the Wild West.
The early alpha version we played had two single-player levels. Unfortunately, the multiplayer mode was not available, but we'll surely get it shipped with the final product. Call of Juarez is a game full of surprises. When you say Wild West you think about John Wayne or maybe Unforgiven, Wyatt Earp or Toombstone if you are a little younger. I don't know what other western movies were launched recently, but I bet there are quite a few, as this genre will certainly never die. These two levels belong to the two characters you'll play with during the game. We have Billy, the young gun, and Ray McCall, the old crazy reverend who flips, gets his babies from a lockbox and goes postal with a gun in one hand and the Bible in the other. Ray is after Billy, but since we played just two levels, we couldn't figure out exactly why, so we'll have to wait and play the full game for that. I have a hunch that their destinies are somehow linked and they will finally meet, but that's something we'll find out later. Both levels started with a monologue from the character and both of them featured quite a few dialogues, which helped me guess what I've just told you.
