Open Beta for Fallen Empire: Legions [25-Jun-2008 12:31]

GarageGames Studios have announced the start of the Open Beta Test period for the first-person shooter game Fallen Empire: Legions. Players who want to participate can register on InstantAction.com website, with the test taking place online. The initial beta version will feature 6 characters and 2 maps for the Deathmatch and Capture the Flag modes, with the producers following to release a content update in the near future.

Electronic Arts reveals Spore Galactic Edition [25-Jun-2008 12:08]

Electronic Arts has announced that it will release a limited edition of the life-sim Spore, titled Galactic Edition, which will feature a 'Making of' DVD, two books - 'Art of Spore' and Galactic Handbook, a poster, as well as the National Geographic Channel documentary 'How to Build a Better Being'. The two versions will be available in Great Britain stores on September 5, 2008, for the PC, MAC and Nintendo DS, for £44.99 (Galactic Edition), £39.99 (the original edition), respectively.

Atari has announced that the action-survival game Alone in the Dark, developed for the PC and Xbox 360 by Eden Games Studios and Hydravision Entertainment for the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii, respectively, is now available in European and North American retail stores, with the PlayStation 3 version to follow this Fall.

During an interview given to GameTrailers website, Michael Booth - Turtle Rock Studios founder - has revealed that the first-person shooter game Left 4 Dead will be released on November 4, 2008 for the PC and Xbox 360.

 

Call of Duty: World at War officially announced, co-op multiplayer mode confirmed for the PC [23-Jun-2008 20:13 | Latest comments 1]

Activision and Treyarch Studios have officially announced that this Fall they will release Call of Duty: World at War for the PC, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The action of the game will again take place during the War World Two, but this time is set in South Pacific and partially during the Red Army's offense over Berlin. The game will be based on the engine from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but the AI being noticeably modified to emphasize better the various battle styles of the Japanese Empire.

Also, the producers have confirmed the fact that the PC version will feature a co-op multiplayer mode for a maximum of 4 players, with the co-op campaign allowing players to advance their rank and to obtain new abilities with experience points, like in the competitive multiplayer. The difficulty level will also be scaled according to the player's rank and experience level.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 announced [23-Jun-2008 16:39]

Konami Digital Entertainment Studios have announced that this Fall they will release for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and PSP Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. Among the features of the new game will be an improved online gameplay, a more advanced graphics than the previous titles of the series, new control elements, as well as the football players own moves.

Also, during the Worldwide Invitational event, Blizzard Entertainment Studios will reveal one of their new projects of the company, with the splash screen from the official webpage, as well as the recent rumours indicating the fact that the new game will be the highly-anticipated Diablo 3.

Possible release date for Starcraft 2 [23-Jun-2008 16:11]

Although Blizzard Enterntainment Studios haven't announced an official release date for the real-time strategy game Stracraft 2, three of the major online retail stores from North America - BestBuy, Circuit City and Gamestop - suggest that the game will be available starting with Decembre 3, 2008, but further informations from the producers being expected at Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, event which will take place on June 28-29, in Paris.

 

Release date for the PC version of FlatOut Ultimate Carnage [21-Jun-2008 15:41]

Empire Interactive has announced that the PC version of the arcade-racer game FlatOut Ultimate Carnage, developed by Bugbear Entertainment Studios, will be available in retail stores starting with Jully 11. Ultimate Carnage will feature 8 game modes for single-player, Games for Windows - LIVE support, as well as a multiplayer game modes series, including Head On.

2K Games removes the DRM from BioShock [20-Jun-2008 23:01]

Elizabeth Tobey, 2K Games Community Manager, has announced on the official forum that the activation restrictions for the first-person shooter game BioShock have been removed, with the game previously having a total of 5 activation restrictions for one CD Key.

The Witcher Enhanced Edition delayed to September [20-Jun-2008 22:38]

CD Projekt RED Studios have announced on their official website that The Witcher Enhanced Edition will be released in the first half of Septembre 2008. The major modifications featured by this new version will be the 80% improved loading times, over 100 new animations for Geralt and the NPCs during the dialogues, an improved lip-sync system, a rebuilt interface for the inventory, over 50 new appearances for the NPCs, as well as a complete dialogues rewrite.

During an investor meeting, John Riccitiello - CEO Electronic Arts - has revealed that the American publisher will release later this year Need for Speed Undercover, the only current details about the game being that it will feature a richer story and have a more action-film style, aking to that of The Transporter.

Valve Software Studios have informed us that on June 19 they will release a new content update for the class-based first-person shooter Team Fortress 2, which will feature 3 new weapons for the Pyro class, as well as 35 new achievements. Also, during this day there will be released a new movie from the "Meet the" series - Meet the Sniper - and starting with Friday, Valve will organize a new Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend.

Major improvements for Age of Conan coming soon [13-Jun-2008 21:49]

Eidos and Funcom Studios have revealed that they will release a series of improvements for the MMORPG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, the first - To the Death - to be available at the end of this month. TtD will substantially modify the Player vs. Player mode, the most important new feature being the Fugitive system - if the players will kill weaker human opponents, they will be easier to hunt by the other combatants. TtD will also introduce 10 PvP levels with new ranks, as well as specific weapons and equipments for this game mode.

Content wise, three dungeons from Stygia will be completely reworked, while Aquilonia and Cimmeria will feature new playable zones. In fall, producers are planing to introduce a new evolution system - Powerpoints - which will reward a large range of actions from the game, from winning the PvP matches to owning a Battlekeep. Powerpoints will grant access to weapons, armor and exclusive potions, as well as Powerfeats and even the possibility to easily evolve your own character.

Also, a major improvement, which is now in the pre-production stage, will offer guilds the possibility to form alliances to conquer or to control territories on a very large scale, with the alliances also having the option to build culture-specific "Wonders of the world".
